Located nine miles
south of mainland St. Vincent, Bequia is the largest of the
Grenadine Islands that runs between the two Island states of St.
Vincent and Grenada. The Island is about 5 miles long and a half
mile wide.
Bequia has a
year-round population of
about 5,000. So while there are a few widely placed pockets where a
more then a half dozen houses are clustered , the island is
otherwise sparsely populated with the ambiance of a large garden.
The land is rather hilly and green.
Flowers are everywhere you look, all the year around. Colorful birds
of more than one-hundred types abound. Beautiful white-sand beaches and crystal clear waters are ideal for all sorts of
water sports and a great underwater-world experience. But ski-boats
and similar intrusive devices are discouraged.
We are
friendly people who would make your visit here one to remember. It is no co-incidence
that Jimmy Buffet, the famous American singer, songwriter and Chief
Parrot Head, says in his auto-biography, that Bequia is his favorite
island. (click for Bequia map)
